I have a 98 Nissan Frontier, 2 wheel drive, 2.4L with a manual transmission. When ever it is humid outside my truck will sputter when below about 1500 RPMS. It will sputter and miss as I go through the gears and when sitting still and pressing on the gas. It does not matter if I have driven the vehicle in the rain or if it has sat still all day. After about 15 minutes of driving, the problem lessens but does not go away.

When it has not rained, there is no fog, etc. The truck runs fine. I have taken it though the carwash and sprayed the hood and grill area with a hose. I can not reproduce the symptom what-so-ever!

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

Open the hood and spray the distributor and plug wires then if it runs crappy, do a tune-up, cap, rotor, wires, plugs.

P.S.
Also have your timing chain or belt, which ever it is, checked. It could have you walking...

Hey, thanks for the reply. The plugs and wires were already fairly new, about 3 months, the cap and rotor however..... I replaced the cap and the rotor and sprayed them down with wire dry. On the first fire up it sputtered a couple of times and then started running smooth. It has been raining the last 2 days and she seems to be doing okay.

Thanks!

Glad you found it.
Cap and rotor are an element of a tune-up, when its not done also these problems occur...
