2000 pontiac gtp power steering

hey guys. i was just wondering if any one could tell me how to check my pwer steering pump and the rack its self? the steering is completely screwed and i need to figure out which one is bad without replacing both.the reservoir was full,pump noisy before it quit comepletely so i'm guessing pump issues. any insight would be helpfull

well, what you really need is a power steering analyzer. this special tool is available at any general motors dealership. you splice it inline at your pump, then go through a series of tests and readings to find the source of the problem. have you started a thread on this concern?
